Ethnocentrism:

                             Ethnocentrism is judging another culture solely by the values of ones own culture .The ethnocentric individual will judge other groups related to his particular ethnic group or culture especially with concern to language, behavior, customs, and religion .Ethnocentric individuals believe that they are better  than other individuals for reasons based solely on their heritage .Ethnocentrism can be defined as making false assumptions about others ways based on our own limited experience .Ethnocentrism is nearly universal syndrome attitudes and behavior  include cooperation with members of in group not out group .Ethnocentrism is a universal human reaction found in all known societies, in all groups and in practically all individuals . Every one learns ethnocentrism while growing up.

Ethnocentrism has both positive and negative effects in ones personal life.

Advantages of ethnocentrism:

1) They feel proud in their group.                                                                                                                            2) They reject norms and culture of others.                                                                                                                  3) They think that their culture is real one.                                                                                                                       4) They judge others according to the values of their own society.                                                                          5) They think that their cultural elements are correct and natural.

Disadvantages of ethnocentrism:

1) Ethnocentrism separate different cultures.                                                                                                                                                                                  2 ) It leads us to make false assumptions about cultural differences.                                                                                                                       3) It misjudges other people.                                                                                                                                             4) It often distorts communication between human beings.                                                                                             5) It leads us to make premature judgments.                                                                                                                       6) It causes division between members of different religions.
