Employee Orientation Program

Arrange employee orientation for newly onboard employees, so that they can feel being welcomed, comfortable and a part of the team among the organization. Through the orientation, it can provide employees a proper introduction of company’s culture and core value, management style and company’s policy as well as staff benefits.

Meanwhile, conducting a tour facility for new employees to walk around their workplace where includes pantry area, washroom, office area and the rest place etc., it also helps them to become acquainted with their new working environment. When they are touring the facility, the conductor can introduce themselves to their co-workers or even for more in-depth introduction to their direct team/department.        

After that, new employees will be aware of what they behave to the company will be benefited themselves and they can be adaptive to work in a short period.  Indeed, the company aims to retain a pool of new, capable employees by expressing what its core value, mission and goal are to be. Whereas it also expects employees can follow company’s goals to achieve the optimal level of productivity and efficiency with the company.    

Job Rotation & On-job Training Program
Job rotation provides an opportunity to expose employees’ hidden talent through the various operations. With this method, Gen Y employees not only enhance their ability and job knowledge as well as tackle the complex operating skills, but also help identify what they are good at what they enjoy doing. They will satisfy their needs in self-achievements.

In this case, Gen Y employees are energetic and interested in new things, they do not like to do the dull job and would rather take more challenges from their job, thus, Foxconn’s management should format a period to swap the job duties among the workers by quarterly basis. It can stimulate their talent in further career development and let them become more flexible to replace the shorthanded positions.  

Moreover, the attrition rate will be decreased in due course.  

Meanwhile, managers are highly encouraged to coach their subordinates and HR department provides the appropriated on-job training for those inexperienced employees. Through these processes to create effective communication, subordinates are able to learn and develop job skill and knowledge quickly while the relationship between supervisors and subordinates become more cohesive.

Rewards System
Encourage workers to be more devoted into the job, not just extrinsic motivation on monetary offer and promotion opportunity, but also intrinsic motivation is relatively important in this case. For example, award the most productive employees by giving a recognition of personal/team achievement and respect e.g. the best staff award and best team award. Foxconn should offer some corporate welfare like short team trip or a short holiday (sponsored by employer) to reward for the team that has achieved the targeted/highest productivity.
