First Donations
- The first donations to your organization may come from special events or other similar events. Asking for smaller amounts of money and giving something in return.
Annual Campaigns
- Looking for people who share similar values and visions. You want them to give money to get the results of your work. The most efficient way to find your supporters is a well organized annual campaign.
- Membership dues are the ideal form for annual fundraising, because they are the most democratic, dependable and renewable form of fundraising. The members pay a set amount of money for one year. You can fundraise by mass-marketing through direct mail, telemarketing, or a door-to-door canvass.
Pledges
- A promise to give more money, a certain amount more often than once a year, usually every month. Payroll deductions, bank credit cards, etc.
Clubs
- Strategy used to increase annual gift. Clubs work every well because they make it easier for the fundraisers to ask for a larger dollar amount and give donors an ego award.
- Silver Mustang Club = $500 Donors
- Golden Mustang Club = $ 1,000 Donors
- Platinum Mustang Club = $5,000 or more Donors
Memorials and Honorary Gifts
- The University should show respect and appreciation for the gift received.
Major Gifts
- College fundraisers used to say it would take 18 months and 7 personal visits with a donor to get a gift of $100,000. Today the cultivation period has lengthened to two to three years, with more visits.
