Giving Feedback Assessment
Importance of Topic:
The giving feedback assessment, taken to understand how well I give feedback to someone else on their job performance, is an assessment based on leadership lessons. Whether it is positive or negative, providing feedback is never easy. However, feedback is essential for employees and leaders to grow and appreciate their relationships. Employees want to make a different in their place of work and want to be recognized for the accomplishments. More importantly, employees want to learn where they stand and how they can become even better. I expect that I will perform well on this assessment because I usually like working in teams and giving feedback is not hard for me to give. Usually the group projects have feedback paper for all team members, and it is not unlike me to give someone a high grade if they did not live up to every one else’s expectations of their job.
Results and Analysis:
The assessment is based on self-perceived strengths and self-perceived weaknesses. For myself, I scored 6/2 for having more self-perceived strengths and strong feedback skills.
Implications for Development:
As a leader, it is important for giving feedback that involves creating safety. If the person receiving the feedback doesn’t feel comfortable, this can cause the feedback to be unproductive. Also, being positive and specific when giving feedback to an employee is just as important as making them feel safe. Positive feedback stimulates people to open up and take a new direction while negative feedback tends to make people defensive. In addition, being specific in what employees can improve on is better than been too vague. Saying something specific and positive pointed at the task you want accomplished will be accomplished better and more efficiently.
