My initial company selection that I chose was the Department of Labor however, after careful thought, I did not feel that this would have been as interesting to do for a research project. Since I am an International Business major, I thought that by selecting a firm that had various international roots would be a great stimulus for me and a more qualified strategic report therefore, I chose HSBC as my final resolution. This company brings to the table various geographical locations, economic indicators and it offers a greater opportunity to determine where the economy is going in today’s economic down turn.

HSBC represent the financial and service industry or banking. It ranks number four out of 30 top banks in the word (egaletrade.com). Where are or who are the major competitive forces in the banking industry? Where is the U.S. position in the world’s economic spiral and should we bail out or be bailed out? These are questions that I wish to follow. Should America be fearful or chose another strategic plan?

My proposed plan of study is to research HSBC as an American bank opposed to its International status and determine why should Americans have financial services with HSBC or should we do our banking elsewhere. What bank should be the U.S’ alternative bank; should it be based on size, finances or ratings? What is the state of the American economy in relation to the banking system and what should be done about this down turn is my ideal plan of study.
