Answer all the questions briefly. Each question is worth 20 pts.
- How would an organization that is about to undergo merger prepare its employee? Explain two measures.
- It is important for the employees to be informed of the change to happen. A good communication is an effective measure. Top Management should not be withholding information regarding the changes instead communicate to the whole business the plans for the company and benefits for employee welfare. Frontline Managers should be ready with the different reactions from the employees and be able to communicate well the things that will happen in the next days.
- Strategic management principles should be applied also. Setting the goal for the whole company is very important. Employees should be involved on the planning so that when the changes will be implemented, it will be doable and they will feel that they belong to the company.
- Discuss your own procedure of diagnosing your own organization.
The following is my procedure of diagnosing the situation in the organization:
- Assess the needs of the company and gather data– It is important to know first the requirement. Statistical data and other documentary reports are very important to consider. Consultation to the employees and stakeholders are important also.
- Validation of the data gathered – Analyze the data gathered and be able to present results in a way that it will be understood by the recipients. The results should be validated by other people in the organization so that it will be objective and free from bias.
- Presentation of the results and recommendation for solution– This presentation of results can be delivered to the stakeholders of the company. Problems/issues can be tackled during this part and be able to recommend solutions.
- Implementation of the solution – this is where the changes are being implemented. Involved people should be ready once change are introduced.
- It is said that it is also the employee’s responsibility to prepare himself/herself for change in the organization. What does it mean?
Employees are responsible for every action that they make inside the organization. From the start, employees should acknowledge that change will happen. Many people who can adjust to change will survive in the organization because those who can not do it or resisting for the changes will get out of the company. A lot of people who are not motivated to work because of the changes tend to underperform. Thus, preparation for change is a personal endeavor. An employee may choose to underperform or perform or to stay in the company or get out of the company in spite of the change that happen.
