Introduction
Over the past several decades, along with the development of high technology, economic growth has brought new opportunities to corporations and countries. However, there are some phenomena that cannot be ignored in our society, such as climate change, environmental pollution, depletion of resources and the increasingly number of social issues. How to address these problems has been a global common concern. In 2000, the United Nations Global Compact was launched at the World Economic Forum for advocacy on human rights, environment, anti-corruption, etc. it was supported and endorsed worldwide. As a result, the social responsibility of corporations has become a priority strategy by some businesses in making decisions (2000).
This essay is divided into three parts. The first part discusses the risks of plastics. Then, the UK and two corporations are taken as examples to illustrate how to drive positive changes in social responsibility, while both protecting the environment and increasing the value of business. In conclusion, it is stressed CSR (corporate social responsibility) is essential for corporations in making decisions.
