If you were Stephen Connor, who would you hire, and why?
In the “Recruitment of a Star” case study four potential candidates were up the job of offer of senior analyst by Stephen Connor. Peter Thompson who was Stephen’s star semiconductor analyst has announced his resignation after receiving a job offer from a competitor of Rubin, Stern, and Hertz banking firm who he currently works for. Stephen felt that this type of role could not be vacant too long. So he decided to conduct an interview for potential candidates for the role. These potential candidates consist of Seth Horkum, David Hughes, Gerald Baum, and Sonia Meetha. But based on these choices I have chosen Seth Horkum. Seth has many aspects that were positive causing hi, to be my first choice. This choice was based on Seth’s prior experience of time management for showing up for interviews before the scheduled time, his loyalty and dependency at Jefferson Brothers for a service of 15 years, and for RSH upcoming clients (PowerChip Company). He is the best fit for the position due to the intelligence and aspects presented above that Seth exhibits in his interview ( Groysberg, Balog, & Haimson, 2007).
What problems does Stephen Connor face?
When Stephen accepted Peter’s resignation the problems he may face is finding the right person for his replacement in a short time frame. So in this case the key factor would be time because the company needs a senior analyst in order to get started with PowerChip company new clients. Stephen is also facing many concerns from the organization senior executives because of his decision to let Peter resign from his position. Another problem is that Stephen allowed Rina one of Peter’s assistance who has also been with the organization for only three years become Peter’s substitute for the position. Now Stephen has to basically rely on help of finding a replacement for Peter from Craig Robertson (Headhunter). Craig is a headhunter who works for Superior Staffing Service also known as the triple S’s, an executive team of recruiters who survey the marketplace constantly in order to gather information from possible sources.
What should Peter’s replacement look like, and which candidate best fit his description?
