Human resources are one of the most valuable assets for any organization. This department is the wheels to guide the organization to move forward with its goals and missions. The role of the VP of human resource plays a vital role in the successful administration on an organization. Since I have not moved into this position I am learning that the responsibilities are increasing quite considerably. As VP of human resources at Accolade, am responsible for providing resolutions to workplace problems and playing a major role in the selection of the employees within the department. These employees will have one of the major responsibilities within the organization, hiring the employees. Regardless of the type of organization, it is important to remain careful of problems faced within human resource.
No organization is able to accommodate all the expectations of its workers. There are always some employees that will have dislike with the policies and regulations of the organization. Whether an organization have 10 or 10,000 employees, every will not be happy with everything. It is important to try to provide a mutual agreement between the two situations so the overall organization will run in smooth transition. (Internal Control-Integrated Framework).
In order to achieve a dedicated workforce, it is necessary to provide something to the employees to show their hard work is appreciated. If employees are motivated to work hard it will provide a stronger commodity amongst the organization. The organization will then generate more revenue which can be given back to the employees in forms of pay raises, bonus, etc. The circle will be a win for all parties involved.
Determine which laws need to be most closely monitored in your organization and state why.
From my view as VP of HR, there are regulations within the organization that must be adhered at all times. One imperative organization and federal law would be the privacy regulation. Since on a daily basics we are handling client’s information on their medical claims and insurance benefits, it is important to make sure that is protected at all times. This information can not be disclosed without the proper consent. These and other laws are necessary to and justified to ensure the overall progress of the organization. In addition to federal laws there are also state employment laws that have to be adhered to and the responsibility of the HR department to ensure they are enforced. These laws (record retentions, criminal record check, etc.) must be kept in the forefront when making any important decisions with an employee. As VP of HR, it is my duties to monitor these laws because of the possible effects on the human resource department and the code of conduct within Accolade.
