There are many problems that are challenged within the Hyten Corporation. The text points out various problems, some of the main reasons listed below –
- How Hyten will evaluate employees and how they are to be applied.
- There is no general agreement whether formalized project management will be beneficial to Hyten.
- If Hyten should promote current employees or if they should employ an outsider to manage new projects.

Yes, ‘Lyons’ has a valid point, he states he has done his research and believes there are personnel problems involved. If the project manager makes an excellent recommendation to the functional manager, the employee is aware of their appraisal and feels he or she deserves a pay increase, however, he continues to explain that the functional manager gave an average evaluation and argued the project manager didn’t have the authority to give the employee extra responsibility during the project resulting in a negative situation.

There are definitely good reasons as to why Hyten should go to a formal project management. An example of this would be to see all departments involved in the project communicating, also to have regular staff meetings so all departments are up to speed with how the project is planning out. If different departments aren’t reaching certain goals, such as cost and time, then Hyten can adjust accordingly through analyzing what needs to be done in order to be on a level ground, such as the manufacturing department, product design and sales can have regular meetings to make sure all goals are being met within the target.

If decided to apply formal project management to the Hyten Corporation, this will give the current employees more room for personal growth. An example of this, if an employee believes there is a chance of promotion, he or she will want to complete a project successfully and within a timely manner. Formal project management will be more structured and will help the company to be more organized and on track with the project date. Formal project management employees will have to communicate and touch base on a regular basis, this will improve current employees skills, as they will be learning from different departments within the organization.
