Checking to see if information is reliable can be a bit mind boggling if you’re not prepared and can take up to much time. Sometimes you have to ask yourself what you are looking for when looking for reliable data. For example, if the data you’re looking for is just facts or opinions this will make the methods of research a lot faster. In a course I learned about the CARS checklist. The acronym for CARS is credibility, accuracy, reasonableness, and support. Everyone has his or her technique to use to filter out information by using the techniques effectively make it easier to choose the good from the bad data. Reliable information is needed when searching for material this makes it easier for the person. If reliable data is not used that will confuse the person and the information will not be useful to anyone. Is why it is needed to avoid any confusion?
There is a wide variety of material on the internet which is constantly being created and revised. The information that is being put on the World Wide Web doesn’t require any filtering. However, when searching for information it is up to the individual to determine if the information being displayed is reliable. I agree with you finding out the truth is needed when communicating because there are so many people who gossip or spread rumors and people can become victim of it all of the time. It is best to get to the root of the problem before going off on a tangent.
