DHL had introduced express tracking tool for the customers. Through this system, the customers can track their latest parcel at anytime with an accurate information by their PC or mobile phone. Besides that, DHL Express SMS allow mobile phone users to track the progress of single shipments by only text them the waybill number and they will respond with the status within seconds. Other than that, DHL also invented electronic data interchange (EDI) system. It standardized the process that can be used to reduce the number of changes of media in logistics. Beside for using in logistic, internet-based variation which called Web EDI are also being used by DHL in order to make it easier for small and medium size companies to know the strength of the EDI. Through EDI, the information is transmitted in some independent steps and data are cached several times on route. EDI is a human helper, it reduces the number of human work steps. There can be categorized as two part. The first one is the prepared data are presented to a human user only after an application system has integrated the information sent by EDI such as within the framework of enterprise resource planning Enterprise resource planning (ERP). Another one called Enterprise application integration (EAI) which is data interchange within an organization. The main information transmitted by EDI includes reporting and planning data of DHL such as point-of-sale information, warehouse data, forecasts, advertising measures and new product introductions. Other than that, it also used to record the transactions data of DHL such as orders, shipping notes and invoices.
