Abstract
For an organization to thrive in changing times and technological advances it is imperative to change or improve on current or add new business processes. Using technology in each of the company’s functional areas, or departments, will aide in developing new ways to achieve a successful change by becoming more efficient and reducing costs. To gain the maximum benefit of the technologies involved in improving their business processes, the organization must go through information systems planning to support the departmental and overall goals of the company. This paper will generate an information systems plan for Sony Corporation to improve its existing business processes.

Introduction and History
The Sony Corporation Information Systems plan will provide will provide information of current business practices which are used in the company. The purpose of the plan will be to:
- Describe the business processes and their functionalities
- Create an information systems plan for Sony Corporation
- Discuss methodologies to aide in implementing the plan set forth
Tokyo Tusushin Kogyo was founded post World War II, in 1946 by Masaru Ibuka as an electronics shop in Tokyo, Japan. Ibuka was later joined by Akio Morita and after the development of several electronic devices, like the G-Type and TR-55, changed the company’s name to Sony Corporation in 1958. Since then Sony has grown into a global corporation with its headquarters located in Konan Minato, Tokyo Japan. In February of 1960 Sony Corporation of America was formed in the United States and later that year Sony Corporation expanded to Switzerland. Its continued commitment to its vision and expansion eventually led Sony Corporation to diversify its business segments into the electronics, game, movie, music, network services and financial services.
Sony’s major products consist of televisions, digital imaging electronics (cameras and video cameras), audio/video, semiconductors, medical related equipment, electronic components and professional solutions. As of March 31, 2014 Sony Corporation consisted of 140,900 employees and in 2013 Sony’s Mobile Products and Communications took the lead in sales with a total of 1,257.6 billion Yen. Sony’s Mobile Products and Communications however also took the greatest operating income loss for 2013 at a 97.2 billion Yen, a direct result in the decline of PC sales. This resulted in one of the biggest changes yet to Sony’s line. “After almost 20 years of VAIO, we're evolving away from the laptop and desktop business.” (Sony, 2014)
