How the Course Concepts helped me learn further.
I have learnt more about technology through this module. It has just but furthered my knowledge and provided answers to my curiosity towards technology.
Through the many assignments done and research on various topics, I have grasped the meaning of technology better than before. I have learnt to differentiate between system software and application software, one of the many concepts that puzzled me before. Besides, I can now understand what it means by “legacy software”, how it can be used by organizations in their functions, as well as how careful they need to be with the software. From taking this particular class, I have learnt that there is so much to learn with technology, and one has to be open to new things/ideas.
The ‘how’ on SDLC concept was really a nice concept. I learnt the stages on how a software program is developed, right from the idea stage through implementation and finally on system maintenance. With this, I have to accept that being procedural and methodological is paramount and with sensitive issues, unnecessary mistakes can be avoided. Furthermore, with technology, I have learnt not to confuse terminologies, know the methodologies to follow as well as the approaches on matters computer.
Perhaps the most important aspect this course was the breakdown of the complex term application. I have come to know that the term is used more “applicable” in information technology. For example, we have systems applications, operating system applications, standalone applications, software application among others. I have been very keen so as not to confuse the term whenever it is used. Additionally, I have known that when software is developed, providing user support is quite essential. This has to be in the form of both documentation and technical support. This enables the final user get acquainted with the software so developed.
