Abstract On Vigor Industrial
Vigor Industrial is a conglomerate with eight affiliated companies. Vigor’s mission: “providing world-class maritime and industrial services to support our customers and strengthen the communities where they live and work, (7). The eight companies associated with Vigor all serve different sectors of the ship and marine industry. Vigor’s operations include shipbuilding, ship repair, and multifaceted fabrications, currently operating in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.
Specifically, we will be discussing penetrating global market sectors within Qatar using the affiliated companies under the Vigor Industrial conglomerate. Qatar is ranked number 1 in 2014 in GDP per capita in the world based on population size (up 35%), (7). Vigor Fab is a leader in shipbuilding and industrial fabrication. They build ships and create components for industries such as fishing, transportation, oil and gas, and renewable energy. Vigor Marine is the leading ship repair and refit specialist in the Pacific Northwest. They fix, overhaul, and refit single vessels and entire fleets. Vigor Machine is a leading provider of turbine generator evaluation and repair. They are also experts in pumps, bearings, and related equipment troubleshooting and repair. Vigor Shipyards is the government ship repair arm of Vigor Industrial. There ship repair and maintenance experts keep U.S. Coast Guard and Navy ships ready and in fighting shape. In 2014, Oregon Iron works (OWI) and Vigor Industrial merged to unite their strengths in advanced manufacturing, systems integration, shipbuilding and ship repair. The combination creates the critical mass of innovation, infrastructure and financial strength to allow the united company to meet upcoming demand from various industrial and marine sectors domestically and in foreign countries, (7). To help minimize the risk and follow governmental regulations Vigor needs to negotiate with local partners, and utilize the benefits and resources obtained from joint ventures and strong alliance partnerships.
