Johnson & Johnson
- Why is Johnson & Johnson facing continued problems of this sort?
Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is facing continued problems in their health care division due to the division McNeil Pharmaceuticals and a lack of quality control (Santoto, 2013). Former employees of J&J and McNeil were interviewed in the mist of several recalls that occurred in a years’ time and many of them recall the quality department deliberately overlooking health risk (Kimes, 2010). After doing extended research on the cause of J&J’s problems I found that the issue of quality control was the main reason for most recalls. Employees stated that there were obvious defects in the products before sending them out and that the quality assurance inspectors either ignored the defect or did not inspect the product as they should. I do not understand why J&J did not make immediate changes to their quality assurance department after eight different recalls occurred between 2009 and 2010 (Kimes, 2010).
- Is the credo helping J&J to resolve these issues?
I believe the credo is not helping J&J to resolve the issue of recalls on their medications because the recalls keep coming and other sources believe they need to change their credo. The credo outlined in the book states what you would expect J&J to do for their employees and customers but for some reason they are not following it.
