- What is the overarching problem facing McNeil and the Company?
McNeil, a single mother who’s a product manager responsible for all IBM product lines, was suffering in her job because of the tremendous additional burden of raising a child, which makes her unable to perform to expectations. Furthermore, McNeil faced a lot of pressure from Walter, who is a single lady in her late twenties, to work longer hours. On the other hand, employees in the company were not educated enough to understand the burden that McNeil through. Mostly, because all employees were single and young except Foley. Therefore, due to the lack of awareness, flexibility and certain tolerance measures within the company, McNeil was subjected to discrimination and the threat of termination.
