According to The World Bank (2015), The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of Malaysia in 2013 is $312.5 Billion, the GDP per capital is $ 10,500 and the inflation in 2014 is 3.1%. However, Malaysia is facing a narrowing current account surplus and a decrease in export. Malaysia also moves into a more unstable position as it shifts to a domestic consumption driven economy from an export driven economy. Furthermore, Malaysia also gas the 2nd largest household debt to GDP ratio in South East Asian which is over 80%. (Ooi, 2014).
On the other hand, According to KDNK Negeri (2013), The GPD per capital of Penang in 2013 is 38,356. Besides that, the CPI (Consumer Price Index) of Penang, Malaysia on 2015 is 40.56 with 9.50 of rent index, 38.61 of groceries index, 27.58 of restaurant index and 24.78 of consumer price plus rent index. An employee should not be required to work more than 5 hours continuously without at least 30 minutes leisure time, more than 8 hours in one day, more than 48 hours in one week and more than 10 hours overtime in 1 day.
Holidays
All employees shall be entitled to a paid holiday at their ordinary salary on 11 of the gazette public holidays which are the National Day, the Birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Birthday of the Ruler or the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Malaysia Day, the Workers’ Day and others. Besides that, an employee shall be entitled to paid annual leave of 8 days for every year under the condition that he or she has been employed by that employer less than 2 years, 12 days for the employee that has been employed more than 2 years but less than 5 years and 16 days for the employee that has been employed more than 5 years.
