Lawyers, Nails, and Money is the theme of an event that is held every year to encourage leaders in the legal community to step up and help those in need. This group consists of members across the economic spectrum, but we need to appeal to those at the more affluent level. Last year300 people attended this event. Tickets were $100 per person. A sit down dinner and a silent auction are also part of the festivities, which we hope to bring as much as $50,000, based on success with past. Keeping in mind that the appeal of the venue and ticket prices play a huge in affecting the attendance at this event.
This year we have two different venues to choose from. They differ than each other in so many ways that we have look at every aspect each of them has to offer and from there get to decide and agree on one that will suit this event at its most.
The first is the ballroom at the Hyatt. The Hyatt has a nice ambience, and the location is close to the suburbs, where many law partners reside. It’s pretty much ready as is but for $4000 for the night. The room has a capacity of 450 guests. There is also valet parking for a $30 fee. A nice four course meal can be provided for $60.
The second option is the VFW hall. It is located in the warehouse district with upscale lofts nearby, but crime is a concern. Two armed security officers are part of the package. Only street parking is available. We would have to do some decorating to make the VFW hall work. It’s going to cost only $2000 for the night. They have no kitchen, but we can cater in from an upscale restaurant at $40 per plate for a nice three-course meal.
The Hyatt has a capacity of 450 guests at $4000 a night while the VFW holds a smaller capacity includes two armed security officers at 2000$ a night. It seems that the VFW is cheaper and probably the better choice for the money, but keep in mind that the VFW is not decorated and doesn’t seat as many people as the Hyatt does. Decorating the VFW hall is going to take some time and effort, it is also going to cost us more money to buy decorations and pay the people that are willing to help with the set up. Also if anything goes wrong with the decorations and an injury occurs it will be a huge liability on us at VFW hall.
The Hyatt offers valet parking which the guests will really appreciate, but the $30 dollar could somewhat erode that giving feeling that we seek. The VFW seems to only have street parking which might irritate our guests. So many things can go wrong with street parking for example people getting tickets and not finding a spot to park.
The Hyatt seems to be in a good location where crimes seem to be a low point and that may be because of the law partners that reside
