The role of strategy in success can be illustrated by looking closely at Madonna's career. Madonna's success has many characteristics of an effectively implemented business plan, complete with strategy and entrepreneurship. The following will be evaluation and comparison of Madonna's career and basic elements of a strategic plan.

When evaluating Madonna's capabilities, there are many who rank higher for their natural vocal, or their acting talents, and yet Madonna has become iconic. It is her lifelong, relentless drive and determination for which she truly is a star. From a very early age Madonna's ultimate goal was to achieve "superstar status", this has been relevant in her comments, such as; "Even as a little girl, I knew I wanted the whole world to know who I was" Grant, R. M. (2010). It is with that unbelievable internal drive that she has learned to mold and balance her career and personal life to achieve the maximum from her life. This has lead to many of her personal relationships originating thru career contacts, such as her marriages and her children "Madonna" (1998).
