Part A:

In present-day society, mastering a variety of competencies has become a majority stage no matter in study or life. The bar chart indicates the percentages of PAMS scores in nine different parts. Besides me, three associates are included in measuring the competencies by rating behaviors.

According to the graph, there are two competencies that I need to improve during this semester, which include managing stress and building effective teams. I got the lowest score on the skill of building effective teams (69%), and there is a gap of 10% compared to associates’ feedback. This shows that I did not play an effective role when establishing a team. Meanwhile, in terms of stress management (70%), the proportion of own is 8% lower than that of associates’. Based on the theory of Johari window (Luft &Ingham, 1961), there are some blind areas that you do not even know about yourself. So this test helps me to find my weakest part, which I had never found before.

In contrast, as can be seen from the graph, the percentages of motivating others to stay in top position, reaching 87% while that of associates was 80%. Moreover, the ability to manage conflict (81%) made up the second strength during these nine sections. That means I have a way to inspire others and have the ability to deal with conflicts well. Meanwhile, the ranking of ‘empowering and delegating’ takes the third place, about 81%. This is following by Gaining power and influence(77%), Solving problems creatively (74%), Developing self-awareness (73%) and communicating supportively (71%).

Part B:

The first competency that needs to improve is stress management. In general, managing stress is an integration of knowledge and personal experience over time. In addition, stress management is still a healthier way to help decrease negative influence and prevent stress out of control again. Stress comes from three sources: physiological, social and psychological (Greenberg,2002).

The following coping strategies could enhance the competency of stress management in three aspects during this semester.

1. For physiological

1) Make sure to get around 8 hours of sleep every night.

Sleep is a mechanism for your body to regulate and restore energy reserves. If you do not get enough sleep, the body will use stress to keep energy.

  1. Do regular exercises every day. Such as yoga and meditation.

Physical exercises could help you relax muscles and readjust nervous system. Paying attention to your breathing that would help to clear your mind when you meditate.

2. For social

  1. Rely on friends and communicate with them in good faith (Robinson & Smith, 2016).

Seek out positive friends and tell them about your stress and the feeling is one of the most effective things to relief your pressure.
