According to Theodore Levitt, industries can improve its opportunities and growth by making customer oriented management rather than product oriented management. Shortsighted management is the main reason behind slower growth of industries. Author gave the example of dry cleaning, electric utilities, grocery stores, rail road industry, and oil industry. ‘Growth will increase if population will increase’ is the wrong perception. Population increase the demand so there is no room for creative thought. Companies fully depends on technical research and development which is one of the danger of the companies. Ultimately, industries have to adapt the requirements of the market for growth.
Conceptual thought:
Author Theodore Levitt mainly focuses on customer oriented management for the business success. Industries can improve its opportunities and growth by making customer oriented management rather than product oriented management. All the industries focus on product oriented management which makes a big gap between customer’s requirements and production. This gaps slower the rate of growth of industries. So, companies need to make strategies for customer satisfaction which lead towards success.
Personal analysis:
In my opinion, customer oriented management is the key for business success. So, I am completely agreed with the author Theodore Levitt. Company should know the demand of customer, so company can make a product as per customer’s need. Companies should make a survey to know their weakness and opportunities. Companies should use the innovation and creativity to improve the product and attract the customers. Industries have to make advertisement and discount for customers to improve total sell. In a nutshell, companies should make effort to improve the product along with customer satisfaction.
