CHAPTER I

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

NAME OF THE BUSINESS: COCOMPUNI

        We chose the name COCOMPUNI as the name of our business. “Coco” which is we get from the coconut that is the primary source of materials of our product, and “Puni” from the word “Kumpuni” which is the Tagalog word for “repair”, and when combined together forms the word COCOMPUNI. COCOMPUNI can sets perceptions to our potential customers that our business offers handicrafts made of coconut tree.

  • COCOMPUNI will be located in Maestrang Kikay District, Talavera, Nueva Ecija.
  • One of the major factors that should be considered in starting up a business is the location. Right choice of location can lead to business success. In order to lead to success, the location should have an easy access to the target market. Based on our survey, majority of the respondents chose street as a place to locate our business. That’s why we decided to locate our business in Maestrang Kikay District because it is near in San Isidro Parish church, offices, and of the establishments. Moreover, many vehicles pas through in this location where many potential buyers would stop and look for our business.

We came up with this logo for our business because we believe that it will represent our ideals and the essence of our business. We choose the coconut fruit and coconut leave as some of the details of our business logo because it is the primary source of materials for our products. The “refresh” sign and “recycling” sign can also be seen in our business logo because we believe that through recycling, we can make things out of waste materials from the environment. These indigenous materials can be made into new products, thus we can make mother earth into a better place to live.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

        Cocompuni offer’s native handicrafts made from the various parts of the coconut tree. Our objective in making this business possible is to open our eyes and make a good impression that we can make things out of the environment like indigenous materials, that through recycling we can make things or products and make a living out of it. We want to emphasize that not all the durable and high quality products are expensive, because our business will offer’ products with high quality but with affordable prices.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE BUSINESS

a) To offer an affordable, but high quality native handicrafts.

b) To change the perception of the people regarding the aesthetic appeal and quality of recycled products.

c) To line up with our competitors by offering unique handicrafts.

RESEARCH AND METHODOLOGY

SURVEY

        We conducted the survey among 215 respondents to get their opinion regarding handicraft business. The surveys was distributed among some of the residents of five Barangays of Talavera which are Esguerra, Maestrang Kikay District, Marcos, Matias, and Pag-asa, which ranges from ages 18 – 60 years old.
