Ooredoo Oman (formerly Nawras) is an Omani telecommunications company owned by Ooredoo (formerly the Qtel Group). The company was founded in the year 2004 under the name of Nawras , it’s the first private telecommunication company in Oman .
They have entered this market with just one rival or competitor at first which is Omantel which is the first telecommunication company in Oman and from the beginning they have controlled the market , so ooredoo had a difficult task to deal with at first but they succeeded and now they are a big company just like Omantel and they managed to compete and even get at the top
Employment practice: ooredoo has more than a thousand employees work in different departments. In 2011 revenue was around 196.9 millions Omani rials , and they are expanding by opening new branches in different areas in the country and hirring employess is very important for the new branches and they will be using there revenue to expand and employee people in the company .
Status of employees : the employees in Ooredoo get the chance to learn more about software development, how to communicate with there colleagues , giving also the salaries are high for a private company with additional benefits like special promotions within the company and outside the company adding to the facilities which is available around the company like restaurants coffeshops etc , the environment helps the employees to easily contact there bosses and managers without any boundaries .
Problems and issues relating to manpower : they are some new companies entering the telecommunication market specially in the internet side like awasr which has already made a big impact in the market , also as a private company it dosent have the authority to do anything without getting the permission which goes through there biggest competitor which is Omantel because Omantel are also owned by the company , this makes them unable to take a step forward than Omantel and it’s a big disadvantage .
