Founded in 1977, Oracle is the second largest software company in the world, and the world's largest provider of enterprise software. Oracle offers an integrated stack of best in class hardware and software products and services serving 400,000 customers worldwide.

Oracle's operations are basically divided into software and services. Oracle has the most modern Software as a Service (SaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) products in IT industry. Oracle Infrastructure as a Service (Oracle IaaS), which delivers Oracle Engineered Systems hardware and support, is still large and much more profit growing. Mergers and acquisitions have been a critical part of Oracle’s strategy to strengthen its product offerings. Over the years, Oracle has diversified its product portfolio through merger and acquisition of various leading companies including MICROS Systems, Sun MicroSystems, Responsys. Inc, Tekelec Global, Acme Packet, SelectMinds , Ksplice, Sophoi Inc., BEA Systems Inc. and many more. Oracle believes acquiring will boost their competitive position and raise the services and product offerings to their customers. Also the company sees mergers as a huge expansion of customer base.
In the recent years, Oracle has been focusing more on upgrading its cloud services and aims to be the largest Cloud Services company in the world. Earlier this year, Oracle acquired BlueKai, a leading cloud based big data platform. Oracle also acquired LiveLOOK, a leading provider of cloud-based, real-time visual collaboration with innovative technology for co-browsing and screen sharing that improves the quality of customer interactions. With its acquisition of TOA, a leading provider of cloud-based field service solutions, Oracle aims to transform customer service and attain operational excellence and productivity with efficient customer expectations. These acquisitions have enabled Oracle to be the largest SaaS company in the world.

Overall Oracle Corporation’s revenues have been growing annually. In FY 2014, Oracle’s total GAAP revenues were US$38.3 billion. Oracle's software licenses and software support account for about 80% of their total revenue. GAAP revenues from new software licensing were $3769 million and from Non – GAAP were $8919 million.
