Palio's Restaurant Case study
Marketing
The first problem I see is that Angelina upon opening only took out an ad in the newspaper. Even though she was on a busy street that doesn't mean people know about you. She could have saved herself a lot of time and money if she hyped up the grand opening and put advertising every where she could think of. Only after losing money and realizing she didn't have the customer base she wanted, did she do this. Also In my opinion I would have taken out a loan to outfit the restaurant in the beginning. I don't think she was very cautious when it came to her reserve. It would have been easier for her in the beginning to pay off a loan then to pay it all forward if she went down. I feel like she was over zealous in thinking everything was going to be quick return with high volume of business first starting out. I think it would be in Angelina’s best interest to consider joining a franchise. I think she has good management qualities but someone else should be making the decisions who have more experience in reading the market. I really think that this case study was a on marketing basics. Learning your market, technology, advertising, management everything she did was a foundation and its obvious once laid out if you don't know what your doing and you haven't done very much research then you shouldn't expect to survive.
