1.1 Origin of the Report
This study has done for completed the 6-credit project report program of partial Masters of Business Administration (MBA) requirement of Stamford University, Bangladesh. In this study emphasizes on Performance Evaluation of AB Bank Limited.
This report is prepared by Asish Sarkar, ID MBA 03108582 and under the guideline of Md. Iftekharul Alam, Supervisor, Business Administration Department, Stamford University, Bangladesh.
1.2 Objectives of the Study
The main objective of the study is to present our gathered practical knowledge on banking system and operation during Project period. The prime objectives of the orientation are:
- To have exposure to the functions of various banking activity (e.g. Foreign exchange, general banking, credit etc.)
- To observe the working environment in commercial banks.
- To study existing banker customer relationship.
- To gather knowledge about the role of banks in the national economy.
- To gather knowledge about various terms used in banking sector.
- To know about the involvement of sample banks in import & export finance
- To know about the remittance of funds
- To know the organization of the sample banks
- To know the problems related with Foreign Exchange
- To suggest the Banks to overcome the problems
1.3 Scope of the Study
Scope of this report is very confined concentrate only on the generalization banking system of ABBL in development of capital market of Bangladesh. Besides this, far evaluating the performance I kept my thinking on accounts, general banking, investment and foreign exchange. The report highlighted the investment policy & types of credit extended and sector of credit allocation, problems regarding credit recovery and performance in this field and its impact on the overall economy of the country that means the report is mainly concern with the loan and advances division of ABBL.
As it has been directed to present the report in a way reflecting the understanding of the nature of jobs in a banking desk combined with personal observation. So, qualitative methods are used to describe all the functions and mechanism used to perform those functions by the bank.
1.4 Methodology
The data collection method of study consists of both primary and secondary sources. But majority of information was collected from secondary sources.
