Personal Presentation Skills

I wish to take this opportunity to provide a brief overview of my experience in regards to my personal presentation skills throughout the semester in Marketing 321.
Being human, we all have certain strengths and weaknesses. Specifically in this class my strengths and weaknesses were brought to the surface through my presentation skills. Before enrolling in this course I was very afraid at just the thought of having to stand in front of people and give a presentation. This fear came from the mere thought that I wasn’t capable of doing so. However, after just a few weeks of involvement in the class I found that there were a couple of things I was particularly good at.
One strength in my PV dashboard that was brought to my attention is my ability to talk about a specific topic for a certain amount of time without having to use verbal distractors. My ability to avoid using verbal distractions such as “like” or “umm” allows me to have more credibility in my presentations. Acquiring more credibility allows my audience to not only engage in what it is I’m speaking about, but it also builds a sense of trust between the audience and myself; and it portrays my expertise in the subject. Pacing myself through my presentations is an additional strength of mine listed on my dashboard. My competence in this area of my presentation skills assures me that what I’m saying doesn't sound too choppy not only to myself, but my audience as well. Keeping my presentations at a steady pace allows for my audience to really understand the message I’m trying to get across. This was evident in my presentations because I received head nods, which gave me confirmation that my audience was engaged, and they knew exactly what I was talking about.
