Re: Charity Opportunity to Fight Against Malaria
Dear Ms. Glen-Fleming,
We recommend that Continental Chocolates support the Against Malaria Foundation because we work directly with farmers in the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Ghana. The donation to the Against Malaria Foundation would prove to be beneficial to both the cocoa farmers and Continental Chocolate. This will benefit the cocoa farmers by helping reduce the amounts of Malaria outbreaks affecting them. While benefiting Continental Chocolates by better developing relationships with our suppliers.
Why Against Malaria Foundation?
Every year 200 million people contract malaria, of those 200 million half of them will lose their lives to this disease. This is an alarming number when preventative measures include a net costing only $2.50. Malaria is as much our problem as those who contract the disease since we source many of our cocoa from many of the affected areas in Ghana, Nigeria, and Cote D'Ivoire. By working with the Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) we will be able to combat malaria and give back to the community that has helped Continental Chocolates succeed. The Against Malaria Foundation is an organization known for their transparency and high level of effectiveness. They were named the top charity by the Life You Can Save. In fact, 100% of the money donated to the Against Malaria Foundation go to the purchase of the nets. Each net costs only $ 2.50 and on average will protect two people for up to four years. The Against Malaria Foundation is also effective because overhead costs are minimal. The Foundation has only two full time employees which greatly reduces the administrative costs of the foundation. Not to mention the Against Malaria Foundation is extremely transparent. All donations received by the company can be tracked on their website and donors are notified when their order of nets has been distributed to the community.
