Rebook joined india in 1995 being the first major shoe company. Their advantage over adidas and nike is its understanding of the indian consumer and being able to offer footwear at an affordable price. The shoes offered were made for people with broader forefoot , whereas Nike and adidas offered shoes for narrower forefeet that did not really suit the indian consumer. Another advantage Reebok has over its competitors is celebrity endorsements, integrated campaigns and movie tie-ups.
Adidas started in india in 1996 as a joint venture with Magnum Trading. It has 16 factories and about 20% MARKET SHARE IN THE SPOrtswear industry. Their advantages over rebook and nike were cutting edge technology, effective advertising and retail network. Another advantage they have over its competitors is making india a hub for its operations. Doing so is completely the opposite of the traditional way of operating in a new country. Most set up a sourcing office and start to sell once demand reaches its threshold.
