Rob Parson should be promoted to a higher position.
He has strong relationships with the important players in banking and insurance industries, which are potential clients of Morgan Stanley. He was also very helpful in cross-selling derivative products by introducing his clients to his colleagues. This contributes to a greater expansion of business of Morgan Stanley. Rob Parson had contributed a lot for Morgan Stanley by being aggressive to ask for orders. His effort has made a significant result in Morgan Stanley’s reputation and revenues. Its market position has raised as well as the market share has increased by more than 10%.
What's more, it is very difficult for Principal and there are many turnover. If Rob Parson will not be promoted this year, it is not sure if he would stay. It would be a huge loss to the company if Rob Parson quit the job as company need to hire another person for this position. It will also involve quite a lot of cost and money to hire an employee for management position.
Rob Parson have areas for improvement but colleagues noticed his improvements on attitude and he is more willing to involve in teamwork. If training is provided, he can perform better in the future. Moreover, he need to take more time to adapt to the culture of the company. The benefits Rob Parson is more than his weaknesses, which can be improved by attending trainings, which are beneficial to his weaknesses. Therefore, Rob Parson should be promoted to managing director.
