Bringing Back Roller skate rinks
Industry overview:
Industry trends: Mixers has Wild West Wednesdays, the bowl has $1 drinks $1 games. All of these trends are old to the Bozeman Community. The roller rink will adopt or create new trends and provide additional incentives to get the business. Creating new trends would be the goal.
Current issues: Roller skate rinks went out of style. I believe they became boring to the public. Management didn't provide fun events or gatherings. Just skating around a roller rink is boring. The biggest issue is the population of our target market. In order for a new roller rink to be successful, management would have to constantly be marketing new events to get students there. The rink would fail if it could only attract a minor portion of our target population.
Target markets: Roller rink could market to all ages if management planned their events right. If I was to start a roller rink my target market would be ages from 14-25. Ages 14-18 would have the rink different nights then ages 18-25. The whole rink would be open for public during the day. However, the main focus would be high school and college students.
Changing demographics: Demographics would be crucial for roller skate rinks. Bozeman is relatively small compared to big cities. In Bozeman, MT I would put the rink somewhere in the middle of Bozeman High and MSU. I picked this location because it is dense with students, which would be the main target market. It would also make the roller skate rink just as convenient as Bozeman Bowl, SOB barn, Main Street, and the movie theater._______________
SWOT:
Strengths (internal) – The biggest strength would be the rinks target market. Bozeman is fairly compact with a lot of students in small radius.
Weakness (internal)– Roller rinks already lost demand hence none of them are open. Alcohol and liquor license are very expensive and tough to get. The building would be expensive, tough to get financing.
Opportunity (External)– Bozeman Montana needs something new for students to do on the weekends. I would create a fun environment for all ages. Bozeman needs some fun, new, innovating, dynamic environment for the community.
Threats (External) - There are a lot of competition, such as bowling, dances, bars, and house parties. However, If I could incorporate a little of each activity into one building while charging a fair price I could beat the competition.______________________________________________
