Sephora is a well-known international retail in the beauty world owned by LVMH. They were established in France by Dominique Mandonnaud in the 1970s selling only fragrance, now selling all sorts of beauty products worldwide. Sephora first emerged into Singapore markets in December 2008 then opening a flagship store in ION orchard in 2009. They feature a broad number of emerging favorites and trusted classic beauty brands, such as Sephora’s own, SEPHORA COLLECTION. Now the beauty company operates relatively to 2,300 stores globally, with a plan to expand more stores across Asia Pacific regions.

Job Analysis
The chosen job position is retail store manager. By preparing for the job analysis, I have interviewed the various retail store managers and supervisors from the existing outlets who have sufficient working experiences with Sephora, I also observed the managers and supervisors on the job behavior. Based on the information provided, I have identified the job descriptions and specifications needed for the job.
Brief Overview:
Sephora is looking for a retail store manager to oversee the operations of an upcoming new outlet that is opening in early 2018 in Singapore. After discussing with the country manager, she emphasized that she wants someone who is efficient in managing staff and is result driven. After interviewing several line managers and retail managers and observing the job that they did, I have come up with the following for the chosen position.
Job Tasks:
As a retail store manager, your tasks are to delegate and supervise your employees, planning work and training schedules every month. Providing monthly report for monthly store operating managers (SOM) meeting and conducting store employee’s mid-year and end-year appraisal to access training and develop career paths. You have to plan and coordinate sales, merchandising, budgeting and daily briefing.
Job Duties:
Your duties are to recruit, train and mentor your employees to provide a high level of customer satisfaction through excellent customer service and motivate them to create a positive working environment and ensure their well-being. You have to be able to handle customer service issues, monitoring the inventory level ensuring that there are sufficient stocks and maintaining a good visual image of the store standards to generate the sales.
Job Responsibilities:
A retail store manager has to be answerable for the management of the store and be able to evaluate and develop the sales team, you need to develop competitive and innovative strategies to optimize the store sales performance and profitability. You will also need to ensure that standard operating procedure (SOP) is in place in the store at all times, and your employees follow the audit standard of daily opening and closing of the store. A store manager not only has to recruit the best qualified staff for the store also must be able to train them for their overall career development in this company. Most importantly, you have to ensure a positive and safe working environment for the employees.
