In general, social promise is a declaration by written or verbal that made by one person to another, which binds the person who makes it to do, or to forbear to do. It is also can be a declaration which gives to the person to whom it is made a right to expect or to claim the performance or forbearance of a specified act. DRB-Hicom Company made their social promise through their vision and mission. In order to achieve their vision and mission, DRB-Hicom realize that contribute toward their stakeholders and create a long-term value are vital for them in operating and enhancing the pursuit of long-term businesses. Therefore, many strategies or initiative has been taken by DRB-Hicom to show a commitment to their social promise. DRB-Hicom has fulfilled its promise by having good and adoption of corporate governance in their operation. They views corporate responsibility in the context of economic sustainability, of running a transparent and profitable business that meets the expectations of stakeholders. In good corporate governance, the group be able to meet their social responsibilities which include produce products which are not hazardous to people and environment, sharing their profits for the good of the community, donating to social causes, organizing activities to benefit the community, complying with applicable laws, setting good labour conditions for employees, providing good products to the community, helping the economy through fair trade practices and so on. Taking into consideration of good corporate governance motivate DRB-Hicom to contribute towards their stakeholders actively.

An example, they emphasize their business impact to the environment by having a good waste management. DRB-Hicom had established their subsidiary, Alam Flora in order to manages and operates waste disposal and provides other environmental services including the collection of domestic waste, cleansing of drains and management of disposal sites and 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle).
