When running a business, it can be hard to learn every aspect when it comes to strategically planning it from end to end. This is why there have been some strategies developed to help one be successful in the long run while running a company. It is all based around a way to please not only the business but the customer as well. While doing this one must always want to ensure that while using these strategies they are also ensuring that Christ is at the forefront of their business. By doing so they can always be sure that they are on a God driven path from beginning to end.
Every company want to be successful and in order to do so having direction to plan from end to end is the way that it can be done. There are five strategies that one can use to be successful throughout the life of their company. Here are the strategies:
- Low-Cost Provider Strategy – With this strategy one will have to master innovating ways to remove costs but still be more successful than their competitors while also keeping their customers. When a company can do this but also have a low cost but a better bargain than those of their customers they can come out on top.
- Broad Differentiation Strategy – This concept is a bit more different because it works when buyers have a selection of preferences. Crafting and Executing Strategy (2014) states, “…seek to produce a competitive edge by incorporating tangible and intangible attributes that set a company’s product/service offering apart from rivals in ways that buyers consider valuable and worth paying for” (p. 144). This is something that as a company you want them to have variety but also enough to keep them interested in your product than one’s rivals.
- Focused Low-Cost or Differentiation Strategy – When one is implementing the focused strategy they are focusing on the niche to their buyers at a lower cost which can in the long run make them successful because it deems more appealing to the customer. It also shows a differentiation in the in the products and which means they can appeal to the customer more often than the competitor. It pays to cater to the niche of the customer by having low costs and being different.
- Best-Cost Strategy – This strategy caters to the middle ground of the strategies because it gives the buyers more value for their money. When you give the customer more value it then makes them keep coming back for the product bringing more profit for the company. This keeps the company have a good value products at a less cost for their customers.
Looking at the strategies that were given to us we want to make sure that we understand them but also from a Christian worldview as well. To run a business, we must understand that nothing is possible without Him and to get much success it must be through Him and his blessings. Genesis 1:28 states, “God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” If we apply this scripture to our business and the strategies that are needed to run it then we can run the company Christ like. Crafting and Executing Strategy (2014) reminds us, “A sustainable advantage depends on maintaining that competitive superiority with resources, capabilities, and value chain activities that rivals have trouble matching and for which there are no good substitutes” (p. 145). When we apply these strategies, it can then help us understand the reasoning to apply these from a worldview in which a way society has deemed as good. Therefore, when looking back at the company one can see from a Christian perspective that the strategies were more useful.
