Structure Evolves at Frantic Films focuses on the organizational structure ( a quickly changing concept within companies ) of this business. Frantic Films is a film and TV production company, recognized with multiple performance awards. When Frantic Film first began it had adopted a traditional stance, with a centralized approach as a private corporation owned and operated by Jamie Brown ( CEO ), Chris Bond ( president ), and Ken Zorniak ( chief operating officer ).
There are four main organizational structures functional ( authority distributed among the basic functions such as marketing and finance ), divisional ( divisions operate in an autonomous basis), project ( the company creates 'project teams' to complete specific projects or address specific issues), and finally the international organization (co-ordinates operations in other countries).
Frantic Films is made up of a divisional structure, at first breaking the organization into three different divisions, and then expanding into a fourth. Visual effects- which produced visual effect for TV and movies , live action- which produces and owns programs that are broadcast in over 40 countries, and TV commercials- that produce television commercials for local and international clients. Since starting, the company has incorporated another division, called Frantic Films Software Inc. This divsion was initiated to create more effective software specific to their business line. The board recognized job specialization in identifying the specific jobs that needed to be done, and then hired seven employees with specialized expertise. The visual effects division held the majority of the employee base, and worked on big name projects such as Superman Returns, X-Men 3, and Across the Universe. A matrix structure was used, with a team of specialized indivduals coming together until project completion, and then disbanding.
