D’Souza.C, Taghian.M, Polpnsky.M(2011). Readings and Cases in Sustainable Marketing.:Goods and Services 50-65.
In this chapter, D’Souza. Taghian. Polpnsky(2011) claim that continuing the path of unsustainability will ultimately lead to disaster. To avoid the disaster, they appeal global participation of government, business and consumers to reduce impact on environment and shift to sustainable production. They analyse all impacts upon our ability to deliver sustainable products to consumers. The writers establish his analysis from five areas: the definition and benefits of sustainable product, sustainable measurement, design, production and disposal. Within each part, key principles are discussed, examples of sustainable product model are given and unsolved questions of some area are shown. They point out that “it is impossible for products to have zero impact upon environment, but manufactories should comply with sustainability goals in order to minimize impact”(D’Souza. Taghian. Polpnsky, 2011, p.65). The role of designers, manufacturers and relevant service sectors is crucial to decide the future of sustainable production. The relevant examples have illustrated that sustainable products are cost efficiencies and the benefit of green design outweigh the benefit of energy. However, the single action of manufactories will not bring the successful outcome. They conclude that government and business play a role of helping consumers change consumption behavior and lifestyle, which brings a new cultural orientation called sustainability.
My report is concerned with sustainability marketing. This chapter provides me with specific knowledge of sustainability. I will use it to support details in my section on the analysis of CountryRoad’s sustainability. However, there are some limitations to this paper. Although this chapter shows numerous examples, the industry of those examples are overly focused and not representative enough. Therefore, I should look for information that concentrates on CountryRoad.
