1. It is important for the CEO to understand technology because in most cases it is plays a part in the driving force of the company, including accounting, email and customer information. CEO’s need to know the threats and concerns that come along with the use of technology so they can prevent certain threats and be prepared for issues that might occur. Any information associated with the company should have security measures to protect that information from being copied or transferred. Technology is a very helpful tool and provides many essential uses in the business world; however, it can also become the downfall if issues are not addressed appropriately.

The CEO’s actions can affect the organizational culture because they are the ones that set the standards for the rest of the company. Trust in the company can be lost due to the actions of a CEO or even the actions of an employee and ultimately this loss of trust can lead to the company’s demise.

2. Executives in non-technological industries need to worry about technology and its potential business ramifications because ultimately the company will have to conform to stay competitive in the industry. Companies use technology to in many areas such as accounting, scheduling, sales and marketing. Technology is a tool that business can use to become more effective and efficient, not taking advantage of this tool can reduce a company’s competitive edge. Integrating technology into the company “… is a business strategy, and is quickly becoming a survival issue” (Baltzan 53). Executives need to stay informed about the different options in the technological world and decide which will be useful in their business or which they will have to adopt to stay competitive and survive in the industry.

3. Technology changes rapidly and with that comes new threats and opportunities across different markets. Executives need to stay educated about technology and the vast advantages
