I. Problems
A. Macro
1. On a macro level, Quantum Software may encounter issues when it comes to the beer bust parties that it hosts for its employee. While the owners, Stan and Erin, want to establish a work environment that eases stress and tension, and allows employees to “blow a little steam off while socializing over a beer”; the safety and liability of the company is a risk. One employee has already fallen on a table.
2. Quantum Software’s success may also be at stake. If the company’s success is a result of its employees, then there shouldn’t be issues that remove them from work.
B. Micro
1. With employees working 16 hour days, the company is using alcohol to maintain high levels of morale.
2. The beer bust allows all employees to mingle regardless of duty and position which will eventually create problems in leadership and professionalism. Too much alcohol will cause employees to lose their bearing.
II. Causes
1. The causes of the beer bust are a result of employees having to work 16-hour days and six-day weeks. Either the company has a problem with scheduling or their work force is understaffed.
2. Another cause can be identified in the liability should one of the employees become intoxicated and an accident occurs resulting in serious injury, loss of life or jail time.
3. Lack in responsibilities dealing with the employees; the issues of staffing the company accordingly.
III. Systems Affected
1. The system in which the Human Resources Department uses is seriously affected. Whatever it is, it’s not being utilized to Quantum Software’s advantage which is a result of employees working long hours.
