Introduction
I chose “The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness” (Covey, 2004) book for this topic. Stephen Covey is cofounder and vice chairperson of Franklin Covey, a global professional services firm. Acknowledged by Time Magazine as one of the 25 most influential Americans, Stephen Covey is the author of seven books including “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”.
Before the 8th habits, Dr. Covey wrote “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, which was a hugely outstanding book. In that book, Dr. Covey showed us how to become as effective as we could be. In today's ever-changing world, being effective is no longer an option, it is a requirement. Without knowing what to do, people cannot keep up with the rapid changes, much less offer results. However, to address the root of our challenges today, we must go beyond effectiveness, to discover the greatness of each one of us. This book adds a new dimension to Covey's bestseller “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” to address how we can unlock human potential and greatness.
