I will analyse the reasons for wal-mart to go global, it mainly includes four parts, firstly, because of the rising competition from k-mart and Target, the wal-mart lose the domestic market share. Secondly, the small population size in the domestic market, so the wal-mart recognized that the overseas market is very big, they can expand it. Thirdly, with the development of globalization and liberalization in the early 1990s, the wal-mart had more opportunities to open new overseas market, so the wal-market decided to go global, and they chose mexico first, the mexico was close to its home market, and the people’s habits, culture and business environments is similar, the North American Free Trade Agreement made wal-mart easy to enter the markets.
