Subject: The Benefits and Drawbacks of Overseas Labor for American companies
Here included with this memorandum is a report on the benefits and drawbacks of overseas labor for American companies. Our goal was to determine whether companies in general should expand their manufacturing and resources to other countries in order to cut costs and to rise above all competitors.
The outcome of benefits and drawbacks can differ from small to large companies due to the available resources and level of capital that is accessible to production costs. Since every company varies in their resources and level of capital, finding an overall census over whether the benefits compensate for the drawbacks, determines if it is right to use overseas labor in the end.
Although the drawbacks to overseas labor range from hidden expenses, infrastructure, communications, travel, cultural training and in-house oversight, the ultimate benefit of maintaining an off shore labor force would be to keep up with competitors and cut costs in production at the same time.
The project was completed with the collective efforts of each group member. Jennifer Espinosa worked on the main body of the report as well as preparation of the presentation, Chris Watkins was responsible for the Introduction of the report and Ryan Wynne covered the remaining aspects of the report which included the examples of companies.
