The challenges currently faced by the existing foreign investors in the pharmaceutical industry:

Though Bangladesh has so many opportunities in pharmaceuticals industries but there are some challenges also.

Bangladesh is basically attractive to the foreign investor because of the cheap labor cost. But, one of the major challenges in the pharmaceuticals industry is that Bangladesh has the lowest annual per capita drugs consumption throughout the whole world. So, Bangladeshi market may looks like so much attractive. But, the reality is that if a company would like to earn a reasonable amount of profit, they must go for global market expansion.

Another major challenges is the supply of pharmaceuticals raw materials & ingredients unavailability. Bangladeshi pharmaceuticals company mostly dependent on india & other foreign countries for the supply of those raw materials & ingredients. Though, Bangladesh has an advantage that Bangladeshi pharmaceuticals company can produce any new patented drug without the permission of the patent holder till 2016. But, still lack of raw material & ingredients should be a major concern.

Technology is another major challenge. Now days, it's an era of technology. But, Bangladeshi technology is less developed for so many active reasons. For not having the developed technology, different companies of Bangladesh cannot maintain a continuous growth. So, it's a major challenge in the decision of FDI by foreign investor.

Political condition is one of the major challenge in Bangladesh. Because, different decisions are taken in Bangladesh on the basis of different political strategy. So, government obviously tries to give more benefits to the local companies. Moreover, government can also change the rules & regulations of pharmaceuticals industry according to the Bangladesh drugs policy of 1982. So, this is
