We all at some point of time have to deals with politics. Be it at the office, or even at the graduate schools. Even in the corporate world it is no different. For success of the project, the project managers have to find a way through. Learning to use the political situation to their advantage is a key factor which is to be mastered. In the book a small table is given to illustrate different types of political behavior and how the manager should make the most of it. All managers at some point of time have to make important decision, sometimes to take this decisions, they have to make compromises for the sake of the project, for themselves and the company. Managers need to be "sensible". They can't be "naive" or the "sharks" as mention in the direct reading, lesson for accident profession. The managers should learn to effectively negotiate, expand their networks, connection and use the situation and system to their advantage. Building effective relationships, without implementing own agendas help a lot. If the project managers start imposing their agendas, it leads to the degradation of the project in the long run. The people under the project manager will then become disgruntled. Just like I mentioned above, it helps to build a healthy network, which attract opportunities, improve difficult relationships, gain important information and helps to get around the hurdles that hampers the project. So handling politics is a major part of the skill a manager should possess in project management.
