Nowadays, the social media is showing the tendency of fast development and is playing an increasingly important role in our society. More and more people accept the idea that social media has become a part of their life. Lin, Le, Khalil, & Cheng (2012) pointed out that social media is based on web platforms and there are several types of social media:social networking sites, video sharing platforms, and so on. The impact of social media has exerted profound and far-reaching influences on a wide range of areas such as education, politics and so on. This essay will explore the positive effects of social media in commercial areas.

Social media can bring about huge benefits for commercial areas. To begin with, social media broadens the channel of product publicity, especially via social networking sites, which have been used in creating brand communities. For example, Volvo puts their advertising on YouTube (Khang, Ki, & Ye, 2012). Moreover, social media can build and enhance the relationship between enterprises and the customers. Many businesses create accounts on Twitter or Facebook. Customers can leave comments and give feedbacks for their products through this platform. In addition, social media is more efficient and effective than traditional marketing and advertising strategies.

Social media has been widely used in society and can bridge distance between people. Social media offer an important network platform where people can communicate and exchange their opinions anytime (Chung & Austria, 2010). More and more people use social media ,like Twitter ,to share their daily activities with their friends through posting photos or videos.

In conclusion, social media is advantageous to society in different areas. We should make full use of it and maximize its positive effects as much as possible.
