Assignment 3
The company I have chosen is Bose. They are a speaker company that specializes in portable Bluetooth speakers. Recently Bose has come out with some new products. First of which is there wireless headphone seat. The SoundSport Free wireless headphones are the first pair of wireless headphones Bose has put on the market. The cost 249.95$ and are one of the best pairs on the market.
I have concluded that this new product is truly an innovation since it is the first type of this product they have put on the market. One key development effort for this product was competition. Now that companies like Apple and Sony are coming out with their version of these headphones, Bose is pressured to do so as well. In order to stay relevant and competitive with the market they have released their own version of the Bluetooth headphones. Another driving force to develop a product like this is profit; a new product like this most likely raises profit for the company, which is also a goal.
Another new product Bose has introduced in the last year is its Soundlink Micro Bluetooth speaker. The speaker is 109.95$ and is considered by the company “unmatched for its size”. I have concluded that this product is not an innovation but simply an extension of its existing products. This product is the same as its other it is just a smaller version. Given the small change, it is just an extension of its original product the Bose speaker. The reason a product like this likely is developed is to boost profit and provide a wider range of products for the customer. This will please the customer and hopefully grow the company.
