Executive Summary
Case acquaints us with Tip top market, which is a popular chain supermarket located in the Southeastern of the United States. This is one of the most famous stores which provide various types of food to the customers every day. However, at a particular store, Karen martin who is the administrator of the organization, found out a huge number of complaints and suggestions from customers on Tuesdays. In order to ascertain the main cause and find the appropriate swolution, she tried to acquire complaint records from customers at Tuesdays over the last eight weeks.
According to the case, on July 15, the company made some different changes and modifications so as to decrease the complaints from customers, improve store maintenance problem the store as well as solve major problems such as check lines pricing issues by making improvements of sufficient material for the store.
Based on the data acquired, she need to utilize check sheet, Pareto diagram and run chart to create cause-and-effect diagram, expose the main problem of the company as well as give recommendations or suggestions to improve the situation.
Analysis
By analyzing the data acquired in the check sheet in the case, I recognized that different issues of the store in the 9-week period could be categorized into five major problems, which are listed as follow: out of stocks in number, quality issues, maintenance layout, pricing issues as well as employee behavior. Following above classification, the main problems of the store could be listed in the table below in terms of frequency times in each Tuesday:
