To think paradoxically, one has to consider opposing arguments and reasons behind an issue and yet draw a conclusion which satisfies the two opposing ends. Paradoxical thinking is often very complex but the outcome of thought processes can resolve complex problems and lead to significant changes. Fear of making mistakes, and also utilizing other perspectives without being judged and at the same time judging others and creating and acceptance level for ambiguity are often considered to prevent one to change.
The leader(s) and management of an organization can use paradoxical thinking at any stage but what is important is to create a shared vision which can, realistically, be followed and utilized by employees. This could set collective goals which can be followed by employees through certain paths. As the term suggests, Shared Vision is a vision shared by many people and it is reflective of their visions. It is much easier for people to commit themselves to follow the path to reach the goals established using a shared vision because the goals are truly reflective of their own thoughts. Once all employees of an organization align themselves with company goals, it becomes much easier for the management to motivate employees and set engaging programs to refine and improve their performances. This could lead to even a faster change and implementation of new thoughts as a response to the competitive and dynamic market with ongoing changes.
