1.0. Introduction
Every organisation is constantly trying to remain competitive in the midst of the changes which are taking place. These changes put pressure on the organisations to stay ahead in the race by developing new culture in order to operate efficiently and effectively.
We are all faced by continuous changes in the organization. This is because changes are an inevitable part of the organisational growth. We will all be faced by continuous change in one form or another. (Mullins 2010).
2.0. Main Triggers for Change
In today’s world, there a several factors which contributes to the changes which put pressure on the organisations. The organizational development and change will determine the survival of the organization through these changes.
2.1. Technology has transformed the way work gets done and has created many great opportunities. The advancement in technology are allowing things to be created that weren't even imaginable 10 years ago. Technology is evolving at a tremendous rate and the rate of technological change is not expected to slow down anytime soon. Investments and resources into technology in every organization has become an unavoidable necessity in order to keep up with the changing demands.
2.2. New business processes has transformed things to be done in a more efficient way. These business processes also has elements of protecting the organization’s strengths and innovative developments. Apart from this, the processes also act as guidelines on staff management where staffs who are seen as assets to the company are retained in order to optimize their productivity and skills for the betterment of the organisation. The advancement in technology trend and new business processes contains challenges for organizational development in order to meet the demands of consumers.
2.3. Competition is always rising because of new entry of business in the same sector. This will put pressure on the organizational development to stay competitive and to have an edge and always striving to stay ahead of competition. An organisation dealing with competitors, needs to be far sighted and with a great vision. This will enable the organisation to be attentive and quick to respond to changes. In the case of Blackberry and Palm who were so comfortable with their success and failed to notice Apple emerge with a state of the art technology which technically wiped these companies out from the market. Another example to eye on is the pressure put on market giants Apple by Samsung.
2.4. Business Sustainability causes organization to development and embrace a paradigm shift from the traditional linear and to move towards the changes in order to sustain or survive in the changing market.
2.5.Globalization will cause significant change as a product or service is offered to a culture which is unfamiliar.
