1) Being the largest private employer in the United States and the world, Walmart is pulling down our economy, according to Making Change at Walmart. The main problem resides in Walmart’s conditions for its employees. Hundreds of thousands of them are living in poverty (even many that work full-time). Many of them work in unsafe conditions and make incredibly low wages. Another issue is the fact that sustainability has mostly been a campaign for Walmart; although the company has written hundreds of press releases, it made little actual progress in reducing the environmental impacts of its products and business. From another point of view, Walmart has an outsized impact on the food system. It has influence over which foods are available to the public, etc. Because of this company, many small businesses have closed their doors due to the big competition. Finally, it is a major contributor to widening gap between the very rich and everyone else.
2) The Making Change at Walmart site is definitely a threat to managers, more precisely to all the Walmart managers. With the help from union members, small business owners, religious leaders, community organizations, women’s advocacy groups, multi-ethnic coalitions, elected officials and ordinary citizens, it creates a coalition which comes together as one to say enough is enough. They mostly want to fight back against all the ways Walmart is pulling down the economy; in other words, they attack Walmart’s directory board and owners. Since a lot of inside facts and private/secret company information is being revealed and placed on this site (from sources such as Walmart associates), it’s forcing the managers to start taking action and review their system.
3) This site has been created for the main stakeholders,
